I love making everything from scratch. Even flour? Yes. You probably think I’m crazy but don’t worry, this is insanely easy. Making your own oat flour is a great alternative to buying it in the store. A bag of oat flour can be really expensive. It’s much cheaper to just buy your preferred oats and make it yourself. More than likely, oat flour is not something you’ll use everyday so it’s a good idea to just make a small amount for whatever your recipe calls for.
Oat flour can be a great gluten-free flour option, as long as the oats you get are certified gluten-free. Many oats claim to be gluten free but are made in the same factory as gluten containing products, so depending on your level of gluten intolerance, you need to take special care when selecting oats.
- preferred brand of rolled oats (recipes makes about a 1:1 ratio, 1 cup of oats equals 1 cup of oat flour)
- Place desired amount of oats into a food processor and blend. In about a minute you'll have oat flour.
